M.Tech Geoinformatics and ST

(( Faculty of Engineering - SIT ))

M.Tech (Geoinformatics) aims to give the students an all-round teaching of the technology involved in the field of geoinformatics.

Geoinformatics is a broad term used for collection of a number of different technologies, approaches, processes that deal with spatial information. The domain has led to the development of technology and services that touch our everyday life. Geoinformatics has evolved into an interdisciplinary field that is useful for the developmental process like urban and rural development, Infrastructure and transportation management. It is a vital technology in the management of natural resources, environmental modeling, and analysis. It is an indispensable tool for disaster management and its preparedness. It is also is the backbone of location-based services.

Geoinformatics has a wide scope and encompasses multiple disciplines. Our students are able to create original solutions to manage and process spatial information and proficiently interact with groups of experts in various fields. Students can thereafter work in operational, technical or executive positions related to geoinformatics in governmental agencies, universities, research centers, the private sector, and multinational corporations. Students who have completed their MTech in Geoinformatics can be employed as GIS consultants, GIS managers, GIS Engineers, GIS analysts or GIS developers.
